The Oroville Initiative (TOI) was pleased to be invited and assist the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Okanogan Council of Governments (OCOG) to help “Make A Difference” at the Whistler Canyon trailhead. Members of TOI joined fifteen volunteers to clean up the Whistler Canyon trailhead on Saturday 10/26/2024 for National Make a Difference Day. The volunteer crew included folks from Okanogan County Public Works, Backcountry Horsemen of WA, The Oroville Initiative and USFS joining the BLM staff. Projects included:
burning Russian thistle and other weeds
clearing most of the Frog Pond trail
weed whacking around the parking lot, campsites, trail and bulletin boards
clearing weeds off the edges of the entrance trail.
