Oroville Student Reports

Oroville High School sophomore Ava Langford was elected Washington FBLA North Central Region Vice President during state competition on April 26.
Back in January, Ava made the choice to run for this position and began the process of applying, interviewing, and campaigning. At state competition, Ava masterfully completed a speech in front of North Central Region voting delegates and chapter officers, which led to her crossing the stage and accepting a symbolic rose from the previous North Central Region Vice President.
With this position, Ava will be responsible for coordinating the development of regional programs, recruiting new members and chapters within the region, and managing regional social media accounts.
On top of these duties, Ava’s main goal is to promote an accessible and sustainable FBLA.
“To me, accessibility is allowing FBLA to exist everywhere, for everyone. Sustainability is making it strong enough to survive challenges and setbacks,” Ava said.
Being from a rural community that used to have a strong FBLA, Ava hopes to improve our chapter and help restore it to its former glory. Even though our chapter is young and does not have access to the resources that some larger cities do, Ava believes that we can thrive and persevere through challenges.
Ava is grateful to the community, her family, and her chapter for supporting her during her stressful campaigning process and beyond.
“I’m so excited to see how I can impact FBLA on a local, regional, state, and national level.” Ava said.
This June, Ava will travel to Anaheim California for the National Leadership Conference where she will be working with other elected state officers and growing her professional network.
